On Friday, March 13, 2020 Governor John Bel Edwards issued an emergency proclamation closing all public schools in Louisiana beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through at least Monday, April 13, 2020. All schools and buildings will be closed and all activities will be canceled until further notice.
We are distributing grab-and-go lunches for our students at select sites throughout the district. Additional information will be available on our website as we learn more about the locations.
We are offering supplemental learning options in two different formats: online and print. This material is only to support and reinforce lessons previously taught. We encourage parents to utilize these resources to supplement learning at home. This material is only for support and reinforcement, no grades will be taken from this work. Our teachers will be responsive and available via email should families have questions. Please contact your school for more information about how to pick up these packets and how to access the online resources they are providing.
We will also provide online resources on our website, www.bpsb.us. These resources are also only meant to provide optional opportunities for student learning while students are absent from school. Please know this will not take the place of regular classroom instruction. It’s meant to supplement student learning at home.
I want to thank everyone for their understanding and ongoing commitment as they work with our school system to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and school communities during these uncertain times. There are still a lot of unanswered questions and as soon as we have more information, we will share it with you. We encourage you to continue to follow CDC guidelines to prevent any further spread of this virus.
